Welcome to the Gateway Camera Club
Our goals are to share ideas, knowledge, and insight; to help improve the skills and abilities of our members; and to have some fun while enjoying photography. We recognize photography is changing, growing and with ever-emerging technologies, more exciting than ever! Gateway was one of the first local camera clubs to embrace digital photography and, as a result, we have some very knowledgeable digital photographers. Many award-winning members of Gateway Camera Club honed their talents and abilities through the mentoring they found at Gateway.
Our club is very active and we meet on most Tuesdays from September to June 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Want to compete, learn and share? Check out our exciting schedule. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Just stop in and introduce yourself. We hope you'll soon find an aspect of Gateway that fits your interests. Please browse our website, learn more about what we do, and enjoy. And remember, enthusiasm is catchy.
Come and catch some!

Upcoming Events
May 26th - Competition Night - Zoom Only - Image of the Year - Judges Don Toothaker, Larry Dunn and Doreen Sykes
June 2nd - Live - No Zoom - Printed Image Peer Review
David duChemin writes, “…the photographic journey is about discovering your vision, allowing it to evolve, change, and find expression through your camera and the print.”
In small group, round table discussions, supportive and affirming, we will delve into the why…the motivation…the story of our image. We will share and learn in a special way that many of us have never experienced before.
Select three images that you like. Do not concern yourself as to whether any other viewer would like them…or even understand them. Your selections will come from ones that are special to you in some way, describable or intangible.
Print your selections roughly 8” x 10” (or equivalent custom dimensions). These do not have to be large because we will be viewing them up close. Suggesting backing your prints up on foam core, card stock…even cardboard to stand up and for easier handling. They’ll stay flatter, too.

Lighting SIG Meeting - Sunday May 17th - date change
The Lighting SIG meeting this month will address lesser known controls of our transmitters, flash units and cameras to control two exposures...the ambient light and the light on our subject's face...in contrasty conditions. Sounds tricky, but we'll sort it all out for you. The use of filters and other stuff will be covered, too.
All members are welcomed and encouraged to attend this meeting and all meetings. Do not concern yourself if you are new to using flash. Individual attention is given. Details of the meeting will be sent to the registered group on Friday, May 15th.

Southwick Zoo - Sunday June 14th
We're going to Southwick's Zoo! Zoos are always fun. Being the largest zoo in New England with over 900 exotic animals from all over the world in 200 acres of natural habitat. we love Southwick's because of the cool, woodsy lanes and close up views of many of the creatures, many without any visible means of containment, allowing for the best photography. Although we try not to, we can't help learning something about the natural world and animal behavior.
Come on along with us for a very fulfilling and social day together during arguably the best time of year to be outdoors.

Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary Exhibit - April 1st to May 31st
Spring is almost here! And that means that it’s time, once again, to exhibit our amazing wildlife and landscape images at the Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary, 280 Eliot Street Natick, MA 01760. This is a great opportunity to share the wonderful images of Gateway with our surrounding community.
Since Broadmoor is a wildlife sanctuary, focusing on nature, we are asking that images in this exhibit be either flora, fauna or landscape images with focus on natural surroundings.
We will be installing the exhibit on Wednesday, April 1st at Noon. The exhibit will be on display until Sunday, May 31st, when exhibitors will claim their individual images. We will be displaying a binder with Artist's Statements in the exhibit area.
An Artists’ reception is planned for Sunday, April 12th from 1 to 3 PM.

Photographer's Event List
Buz is creating an events of interest to photographers list. This is intended to be an interactive list with any member sending Buz an event that they've learned about. The event can be anything that you think would be of interest to photographers. These could be larger regional events or small home town celebrations of some kind. Any theme might be a good event: specialty sports (nat'l leagues, we already know about), state and local fairs and festivals, flowers and gardens, historic, specihttps://www.meetup.com/bostonareaphotography/photos/33437602/512049040/al visiting exhibits at museums, and events that defy categorization. As you send Buz events, he will add to the list and send out periodic updated e-mails.
